Feature Friday – Highland Trails

This week I’m highlighting an area in North Edmond that many folks seem to be gravitating toward lately.  It’s a unique community, in that it offers acreage lots in the highly sought Edmond Public School system.

It’s located on Kelly, about 2/3 mile North of Waterloo, but that’s enough from me…  I had the pleasure of asking a few questions of a proud homeowner in the Highland Trails community.  Let’s take a look at WHY Brad Stone, loves this neighborhood:

How long have you lived in the neighborhood?

We moved in May 2007.  We were the 7th family in the neighborhood. Phase 1 is now complete and have many houses started in Phase 2.

What amenities does the neighborhood offer, that attracted you to buy your home there?

Paved walking trails, Neighborhood clubhouse, pool, sand Vollleyball court, basketball court, Rainbow Playset, AT&T Uverse and Cox Cable, lot sizes start at 1/2 acre.

What are your top 3 favorite things about the neighborhood?

1.  Price per sq ft of the homes is incredible for Edmond Schools.  The homes are well built and quickly increasing in value.
2.  The sense of community is incredible.  When the weather is warm there are tons of kids outside playing, families on walks or bike rides.  Lots of neighbors get together and hangout on back porches every weekend.  Lifegroups, bible studies, bunco for the ladies.
3.  It has the country feel but city convenience.  You can see the stars at night, there is no sound of city traffic, and our kids can ride bikes and scooters on the trails and not on the streets.

Is there an active Homeowners Association?  If yes, how well do you think they do their job?

There will be an association once the neighborhood reaches 70% occupancy.  The builder/developer is maintaining the green belts, entrances and pool until the association is put in place.

Do you have school-aged children that attend public schools?  If yes, how do you feel about the schools your children attend?

We have 4 children and we currently home school.  There are 4 or 5 other families in the neighborhood that also home school.  Our neighbors that have kids in Edmond schools seem to be very involved with their children schools and I’ve heard nothing but good things.

How social are the neighbors?  Have you met many of your neighbors, and would you consider them friends?

Most of the neighbors are very social.  Of course there are some that would rather keep to themselves and that is ok too.  We have made several new friends in our neighborhood and is truly one of the great things about our neighborhood…

I’d like to personally thank Brad Stone for taking the time to share his excitement for Highland Trails with us, and allowing us to shoot some pictures in and around the neighborhood.  If you need more info about the addition, don’t hesitate to get in touch with me!
